MLK Day of Service – Boardwalk building and beach cleanup at Little Talbot Island State Park

Join the Timucuan Parks Foundation, Hands On Jacksonville, and Talbot Islands State Parks at Little Talbot Island State Park from 9:15-12:30 pm for beach clean-up, trail maintenance and boardwalk renovation. This is a great way for family, friends and the community to contribute to the MLK Day of Service!

WHERE?    Little Talbot Island State Park, 12157 Heckscher Drive.  Approximately 5 miles north of the St. Johns River Ferry Landing. Turn into the Little Talbot Island State Park.  Stop at the ranger station and tell them you are a “MLK Day of Service” volunteer. They will direct you to the North Beach parking area.  Park and check in at the picnic table.
WHEN?     Monday, January 16, 9:15 am to 12:30 pm
WHAT?   Assistance with one of three projects (depending on your skill level)
  • Boardwalk renovation
  • Beach Cleanup
  • Roping along bird nesting areas
WHAT TO WEAR? Wear closed-toed shoes and comfortable clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty.  If you have work gloves, go ahead and bring them.
PROVIDED?   Work gloves, trash gloves, trash bags, snacks, insect spray, water, and lunch (courtesy of Hands On Jacksonville and National Environmental Education Foundation grants)
